Gardaí issue statement in advance of Carney visit
An Garda Síochána has said traffic restrictions and diversions for the visit to Mayo of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will be kept to the minimum.
The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, will attend a number of engagements in Co Mayo on Sunday and Monday, June 14 and 15. An Garda Síochána has said traffic restrictions and diversions for the visit will be kept to the minimum required and that any impact on the public is intended to be localised and minimal.
“We would ask members of the public to heed the advice and instructions of Gardaí and we thank them for their continuing co-operation,” read a statement from An Garda Síochána today.
“An Garda Síochána has and continues to liaise with businesses and local residents in the key locations and will continue to communicate directly with them during the visit, where required.
“An Garda Síochána is working to ensure that the nature and scale of our policing and security operation continues to be proportionate to the need to protect everyone’s safety.”
