Further funding required for highly-anticipated new Mayo amenity
Additional “elements” outside Mayo County Council’s budget for a climbing wall at a popular Castlebar amenity mean that additional funding is now required and must be approved before the project can proceed to construction.
At yesterday's Municipal District meeting, an update was given on the Lough Lannagh Climbing Wall project stating that the tender process for both the specialist climbing wall installation and the main construction works have now been fully completed and evaluated.
However, Director of Services for the Castlebar MD David Mellett said while the tenders are back, there are elements of the project that fall outside the scope of the current budget allocated for the climbing wall project.
He said that the contract award will proceed as planned following the approval of the required additional funding.
The Climbing Wall will be located beside the Gym and Swimming Pool once completed and is part of an overall plan to make Lough Lannagh one of the biggest visitor attractions in the region.
