A picture of the squid sighting in Kilcummin.

During a night dive in Kilcummin by the local sub-aqua club, Teach an Uisce, an exceptionally rare sighting was spotted.

A squid, believed to be a European common squid, was pictured close to the Kilcummin Pier shore yesterday evening (Wednesday, November 5).

Known for its reddish-brown colouring and large, graceful fins, this squid is usually found in deeper offshore waters, making this a truly unusual inshore sighting.
