Woman is fined for theft from store

The defendant pleaded guilty at Castlebar District Court.
A Castlebar woman who was involved in a theft from a local department store has been fined.
Rosie McDonagh, aged 53, of Manor Village, Castlebar pleaded guilty at the local district court to theft.
Gda Claire Padden told the court that she was on duty at 3.45pm on September 16, 2021, when she received a report from security staff at Shaw's Department store regarding a theft. Four items of clothing and a makeup palette with a total value of €198.90 were taken.
CCTV footage captured a woman concealing clothing on her person and leaving the store without paying. She was accompanied by another woman. The two women got into a Toyota Corolla, which was registered to the defendant.
Gda Padden spoke to McDonagh, who made admissions. Two items of clothing were returned to Shaw's but were not fit for resale.
McDonagh has four previous convictions, including three for theft.
Solicitor Cathy McDarby said her client had made an effort to return the items she had taken.
Judge Vincent Deane imposed a fine of €300.
