Woman driver was sitting on seatbelt
The defendant failed to appear in court.
A woman was spotted by Gardaí sitting on her seatbelt while driving.
Ann Barbara Maughan, of Railway Terrace, Swinford, failed to appear before Ballina District Court.
Garda John Barrett told the court he was on duty at Station Road, Swinford on January 15 last.
He observed Maughan driving while sitting on the seatbelt of her vehicle. The seatbelt was plugged into its slot so the buzzer would not go off but Maughan was sitting on the belt rather than wearing it.
Gda Barrett followed and stopped the vehicle and a fixed-charge penalty notice went unpaid within the allowed timeframe.
Judge Vincent Deane imposed a €300 fine.
