Teen wielded pen knife during row
The case was heard before Castlebar District Court.
A teenager produced a pen knife during a row about a young woman, a court has heard.
Ali Erroubal, aged 19, with an address at the Welcome Centre, N5 Business Park, Castlebar, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before Castlebar District Court.
The court heard Erroubal and the injured party had attended Youthreach together but there was a falling out over a girl.
On February, 26, 2025, the injured party was leaving Apache Pizza on Hopkins Road, Castlebar when he was approached by Erroubal. There was some pushing between the pair before Erroubal produced a pen knife. The injured party shouted that Erroubal had a knife which caused him to back off.
Erroubal has no previous convictions.
Solicitor Tom Walsh said his client was 18 at the time of the offence. He previously worked as a barber but is currently unemployed. Erroubal is originally from Morrocco but has been living in Ireland for three years.
Judge Deirdre Gearty said the teenager should not have had a knife in his possession.
The judge bound him to the peace for a period of two years.
“The court does not want to see him again,” Judge Gearty added.
