Motorist was six times over legal alcohol limit

The court heard the defendant was going through a terrible period in his life at the time of his arrest.
A man was over six times the alcohol limit when he was found in his vehicle.
Mariusz Prazmowski, aged 40, of Glenfort, Castlebar, pleaded guilty at Castlebar District Court to being drunk in charge of his vehicle.
The court heard that at 8.15pm on May 29, 2021, Gardaí responded to a report of a crash at Davitts Terrace, Castlebar. They found Prazmowski’s car parked awkwardly at Harmony Heights. He was in the vehicle and was in a drunken condition. He was arrested and a blood sample showed a reading of 312mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 50mg.
The accused has no previous convictions.
Solicitor Cathy McDarby said her client was going through a terrible period in his life at the time. He had lost his job and his partner while his mother in Poland was ill. She admitted his reading was "frighteningly high" and said he apologises for his actions.
Judge Michael Connellan imposed a three-year driving ban and a fine of €250.
