Man with almost 100 previous convictions gets jail term

The defendant pleaded guilty at Castlebar District Court.
A Bofeenaun man with almost 100 previous convictions has been jailed.
Stephen Dolan, Massbrook, Bofeenaun, pleaded guilty at Castlebar District Court to driving without insurance.
Sgt Shane Kelleher told the court that Dolan was found to be driving without insurance after he was stopped at Lawn Park, Castlebar on November 20, 2020. He has 97 previous convictions, including eight for no motor insurance.
Solicitor Cathy McDarby said her client is currently serving a prison sentence in relation to another matter but has used his time in prison well by undertaking courses.
“He is in a good place. He wants to get the matter dealt with,” she said.
Judge Fiona Lydon imposed a three-month consecutive jail term.
