Man in court charged with assault in Ballina

The case was heard at Ballina Courthouse.

A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with assault causing harm in Ballina.

Celyn Eadon, who is formerly from Islandeady and also an address at Apartment 1, Block 3, Dermot Street, Clongriffin, Dublin 13, appeared via video link before Ballina District Court last Tuesday.

Mr Eadon had appeared a special sitting of the court the previous Thursday where he had been charged with assault causing harm at Lord Edward Street, Ballina. He was remanded in custody on that occasion.

Sgt Conor McShane, seeking a further remand, said that directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) remained outstanding.

Defending solicitor Peter Flynn said his client would consent to a remand and no bail application was forthcoming.

Judge Sandra Murphy remanded Mr Eadon in custody and adjourned the matter until Tuesday, February 24, pending DPP directions.
