Man charged in connection with serious dog attack
A man will appear in Ballina District Court in connection with a dog attack against a woman.
A man will appear in Ballina District Court today charged in connection with an incident where a woman was injured following a dog attack in Co Mayo.
The incident, which occurred in November 2022, saw the woman attacked in a public location in Ballina on a Sunday afternoon, with Gardaí attending the incident and the women receiving medical treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Mayo University Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
The animal involved in the incident was later destroyed.
A year later, in November 2023, a male in his 40s was arrested in connection with the incident, pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He was subsequently released pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The man was since charged and appears before Ballina District Court today, with investigations ongoing.
