Locals in Mayo village voice concern over criminal activity

Locals in Turlough have expressed concern about recent criminal activity in their village.

There are concerns that rural communities in Mayo are once again becoming a target for burglars.

A community group issued a warning following a burglary and an attempted burglary in their village last week.

Turlough Community Village highlighted on social media how an attempted burglary of a property on the Old Turlough Road at Ballynew occurred at around 7.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, October 30. It is believed the suspects used a white van.

The group reported there was a successful burglary in the area on the same evening. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity is asked to contact the Gardaí in Castlebar on 094-9038200.

Gardaí recently issued a reminder to the public in Mayo to take precautions following a series of break-ins at residential properties across the country.
