Castlebar man to face murder trial next year

The case will be heard at the Central Criminal Court.

A trial date has been set for a 66-year-old Mayo man charged with the murder of retired farmer John Brogan in Castlebar three years ago.

The matter came before the Central Criminal Court in Dublin last Wednesday where the trial of Kevin McHale, from Annagh, Castlebar, was fixed for April 5, 2027. He is charged with the murder of 83-year-old John Brogan in Castlebar on March 5, 2023.

Mr Brogan's body was found at his cottage at Pheasant Hill in Cloonkeen on the Old Westport Road.

The murder trial has now been put back to November 27 next for case management.
