The defendant pleaded guilty at Castlebar District Court.

A Castlebar man has been told to ‘get his house in order’ with regards to his driving documentation.

John Moran, age 58, 18 Kennedy Gardens, Castlebar, pleaded guilty at the local district court to non-display of a tax disc and non-display of an NCT cert.

Gda Deborah Gilroy told the court that on May 31, 2023 at 12.30am, she stopped a BMW X5 Estate being driven by the defendant at Kennedy Gardens. The tax on the vehicle had expired 1,491 days before this date and the NCT cert was also out of date.

Moran had five previous convictions.

Solicitor Gary Mulchrone said his client was self-employed and working in the area of garden DIY. Mr Mulchrone said the ownership of the vehicle had changed frequently between Moran and his son.

Judge Fiona Lydon issued fines totalling €900.

“He would want to make sure his house is in order,” she said.
