Castlebar traffic diversions will be in place for St. Patrick's Day parade and Mayo match

Large crowds are expected to line the streets of Castlebar for the St Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday.
Motorists have been reminded by the organisers Castlebar St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee that traffic diversions will be in place around Castlebar from 11.45am until approximately 3pm on St Patrick’s Day.
There will be a restriction on traffic movement through the town centre to enable the parade to pass through.
Road diversions and closures will be applied on a rolling basis to avoid the closure of multiple roads at once.
Gardaí will be present to assist the parade stewards with local road diversions.
Large crowds are expected to attend and line the parade route in the county town.
There will also be an extra influx of traffic in Castlebar for the Mayo v Derry league match which is being played at McHale Park with throw-in at 3.45pm/ Castlebar St.Patrick's Day Parade will start at 12-noon from McHale Road and follow its usual and traditional route around the county town along Spencer St, The Mall, Market Square, Chapel St., Newline, New Antrim St., Linenhall Street before finishing along Main Street where it will pass the viewing stand.
The parade this year has an earlier start time and participants have been asked to gather at the usual assembly point outside the McHale Park entrance at the top of McHale Road at 11am.
