Body discovered in Castlebar river
Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of a body in the early hours of Wednesday, 9 September, 2026.
Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of a body at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, Co Mayo, at around 7:00am on 9th September 2026.
The body of the man has been transferred to the morgue at Mayo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The results of the examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
Enquiries are ongoing.
Gardaí have said that foul play is not suspected at this time.
