Ballina schoolboys crowned county quiz champs and qualify for All-Ireland event

A team of brainy boys from Culleens NS, Ballina have qualified for Connacht and All-Ireland school sports quiz finals after winning their county final this week.
The team of brothers Rian and Daire Cafferkey, Jamie Sweeney and Croí Maloney emerged as the victorious winners at the Cumann na mBunscoil sports quiz county final held in Castlebar on Tuesday night.
With the support of their teacher and team mentor James Daughton, they first came through the Ballina area quiz a few ago and success carried through to the county final at An Sportlann where they answered 85% of the 80 questions asked by Quiz Master David Gordon correctly.
They will now represent the school at the Connacht quiz later this month which will provide a great warmup for the Cumann na mBunscoil All-Ireland sports quiz final taking place on March 22 in Tullamore.
The entire Culleens NS school community is bursting with pride at their achievements and will be rooting for them in the weeks ahead as they take on the best and brightest that Connacht and Ireland has to offer.
