Arrest and seizure of drugs worth €95,000 in the West

As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the region, members of the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit arrested a man and seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €95,000, following a search in Rahoon, Galway, on Saturday, 10th January 2026.

During the course of the search of a house, cocaine, a press and other drug paraphernalia were seized.

A man (aged in his 40s) was arrested in connection with the investigation and detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
