ALERT: Popular walking route to close for three weeks

Mayo County Council have advised that a popular pedestrian walkway is to close in Newport for the next three weeks.

Works on the installation of the Newport Viaduct Dark Skies Friendly Lighting project are scheduled to commence on Monday, September 14th 2026.

The viaduct will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the works to ensure public safety.

Works are expected to take 3 weeks to complete and alternative pedestrian routes will be signposted.
