Mayo venue set for exhilarating live show

Acclaimed American multiâinstrumentalistâ¯Joachim Cooderâ¯and Italian guitar virtuosoâ¯Adriano Viterbini have announced their Irish tour dates for this year. Their five-date tour is officially coming to Mayo this November, playing inâ¯Matt Molloy’s Westport on November 11th.
The Cooder-Viterbini partnership blends Americana, folk, blues, and Africanâinfluenced sounds into a unique, genreâdefying live experience. The duo was born from an online exchange of ideas and solidified through multiple international tours.
Cooder, son of legendary musician Ry Cooder, contributes vocals, electric mbira, percussion and keyboards. Viterbini, of ‘Bud Spencer Blues Explosion’ and ‘I Hate My Village’, often delivers powerful, textural guitar work on electric, acoustic, ngoni and bouzouki.
Their unique sets draw on Cooder’s 2024 albumâ¯Dreamer’s Motel, of reimagined traditional songs such as ‘Hold the Woodpile Down’, Viterbini originals including ‘Tubi Innocenti’, and improvisations that have become a hallmark of their live shows.
Joachim Cooderâ¯is a Grammyâassociated drummer, percussionist, composer and keyboardist. He is best known for his work with Buena Vista Social Club, Johnny Cash, John Lee Hooker, Mavis Staples, The Chieftains and Sinéad O’Connor, as well as his own solo albums includingâ¯Over That Road I’m Boundâ¯(2020) andâ¯Dreamer’s Motelâ¯(2024).
His partner, Adriano Viterbini is an Italian guitarist, singer and composer celebrated as one of Europe’s leading blues and experimental guitarists. He is the founder of ‘Bud Spencer Blues Explosion’ and ‘I Hate My Village’, and has collaborated with artists including Jovanotti, Bombino and Rokia Traoré.
