A wonder goal from Andrew Shally sent Mayo on their way into the FAI Oscar Traynor Cup semi-finals following a thrilling encounter in Umbro Park this afternoon.

It was a dream start for Mayo as Ben Edeh put the hosts ahead from six yards inside 90 seconds but Kerry got back level on 14 minutes after he directed his header into the bottom corner.

Dylan McKee put Mayo back ahead following good work by Edeh as he kept the ball alive in the box before crossing into the Ballina Town midfielder and McKee got in front of the goalkeeper head home.

Jason Hunt struck the post shortly after the half hour mark and Kerry punished them six minutes before half-time after a brilliant strike by Shane Howth just inside the penalty area.

Five minutes into the second half Mayo were back in front with a goal worthy of the occasion as left back Andrew Shally fired in a wonder strike from 35 yards into the top corner.

Kerry pinned Mayo back late on but the backline of Shally, Cillian Redmond, Ioseph O’Reilly and Cillian McGlade allowed Kerry no way back. Jack O’Connor netted the insurance goal with a minute of normal time remaining to book Mayo’s spot in the last four which will be played the weekend of March 9/10.
