Mayo duo feature in opening two episodes of RTÉ's First Dates

Mayo will have another contestant featured in the next episode of RTÉ hit series First Dates to air on Thursday.

Bold boy and one-liner aficionado Alan (30), who sums up his dating strategy as ‘a shy baby doesn’t get no sweets’, will be hoping his ‘bit of chat’ is enough to get the interest of Megan (30) from Kildare.

Alan will be hoping to replicate the success of another Mayo native Siobhan, who featured in the season opener this week.

The 24-year-old from Castlebar was paired Cavan’s James, in what ended up as a double-date. Siobhan was alongside Jade from Newry, while James had his ‘wingman’, Stephen from Athlone, by his side.

Both Siobhan and James hit it off very well, with each sharing stories of their best dates. James recalled bringing an American-based girlfriend to Paris for her birthday and a boat trip by the Eiffel Tower. Siobhan’s was more simple but just as sweet: a picnic down the road.

In an interesting twist, the four were initially unaware who would be paired with who until the waiter revealed the pairs.

It was revealed at the end of the episode that the fours continued their evening with drinks at a bar following their successful dates.
