Mayo boxer wins national title

St Anne's BC's Shannon Sweeney has become the Irish senior 50kg champion after a stunning victory over 2022 European silver medalist Caitlin Fryers at the IABA National Elite Boxing Championships last Friday evening in the National Stadium, Dublin.
It has been a year to remember for Sweeney, having won the European light flyweight title earlier this year, and she was too strong for her Belfast opponent in a career-defining year for the Westport pugilist.
