New Year’s Day Dip

Community spirit is alive and well in Easkey village. The rain stayed away, the sea stayed calm and there was a massive turn out for the New Year Day Dip organised by the Easkey Enhancement Association. What a wonderful way to start 2024, a bracing dip in the Wild Atlantic followed by a cup of tea and a chat with your neighbour. The sound of goodwill for all men was plain to be heard.

An amazing €1450 was collected on the day and this money will be split between two charities – ‘Aware’ and ‘Women and Children of Gaza’. So much generosity could be seen with people giving time, money and necessary skills in particular. The organisers extend thanks to Grainne Uaile Sub Aqua club and two local lifeguards for keeping everyone safe; and a special word of thanks to the ‘It’s Grand Once Yer In Easkey’ swimming group. These incredible group of women came together in Covid-19 times and they are still going strong, meeting regularly to swim, chat, laugh, sharing in each others good times and supporting through bad. Their good energy and willingness to help is something to see, so well done ladies for another successful event.

Easkey Enhancement Association wishes everyone all the very best for 2024 and they look forward to the exciting times that lie ahead for the village. A new vision for Easkey.
