The Killasser Community Care and Killasser Community Centre committees will hold the Annual 25 Card Drive on Monday, December 9.

Meelick ICA are hosting a demonstration on Make up for Christmas with Make Up with Megan in Meelick Community Centre on Wednesday, November 13, at 7.30pm. All are welcome. €8 per person.
The numbers drawn in the Swinford Community Lotto draw held on November 4, were 1, 8, 12 and 17. There was no jackpot winner. €70 vouchers were won by Amy McNicholas, Carrowmore and Marie and Meghan Philbin, Lislackagh; €35 was won by Clare Maloney, Gleann Darach and Linda Cronnolly, Cois Coille. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on November 11, was €18,400.
Congratulations to Tony Lynskey who won €625 in the October Killasser Community Centre 50/50 draw with Stephanie Heaney and Douglas Kelly winning the €20 spot prize each. The November draw takes place on Sunday, December 8.
The Killasser Community Centre committee thank all who participated in the recent Parish Tractor Drive. The weather may have impacted turnout but hopefully all in attendance enjoyed the day. The committee thank the drivers, various sponsors, the Community Care Committee and others who helped out. A profit of €430 was made on the day.
The Friday night indoor soccer in Killasser Community Centre for the youth of the parish continues each week.
The next Killasser Bingo will take place in the Turf Shed on Sunday, December 8, with 8 houses plus Snowball house and the €500 jackpot house. First house 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Fr Joseph will celebrate a Novena of Masses for deceased relatives and friends included in the November lists for the dead. Envelopes are available at the churches. There will be a service for the deceased on Sunday, November 17, at 7pm in Kilmovee Church remembering those who have died since November 2023. The young adult faith event has been organised by Achonry Youth Ministry, and is geared towards adults of 18 to 40 year olds. It takes place in St Brigid’s Hall and Theatre, Tubbercurry, on Friday, November 15, at 8pm.
The theme of the event is ‘The Relevance of Faith in the Modern World’. Keynote speakers are Co. Louth manager/former Dublin footballer and All-Ireland winner Ger Brennan who will speak about life, sport, and faith, and Niamh McCann, wife, mother, and teacher, will offer a powerful personal testimony guaranteed to inspire the audience. Other speakers will join Ger and Niamh for panel discussions with opportunities for questions. It promises to be a great evening.
The committee of Kilkelly Kilmovee Parish magazine thank all those who turned out in huge numbers to attend and support the 18th edition of Kilkelly Kilmovee Parish Magazine launch at Ireland West Airport on Sunday, October 27; thanks to the staff of the airport who worked so hard on the night, to all the sponsors who donated prizes to the raffle and to everyone who sold tickets and helped the committee this past few weeks. It is greatly appreciated. The launch will be televised on Sky Channel 588 on December 17. Books which are now on sale locally would make a fantastic gift to send home or abroad this Christmas.

The Parents Association of Kilmovee NS thank everyone who attended the fundraising event in the Four Ways Pub, Kilmovee on Sunday, October 27. The death took place of Philomena (Mena) Giblin, Aughalustia, Ballaghaderreen, on October 23 peacefully surrounded by her family at Mayo University Hospital. Philomena was a native of Kilcogy Village, Co. Cavan, and her maiden name was Philomena Reilly.
Philomena is survived by her husband Frank, sons Michael, Kieran and Noel, brothers Oliver and Pius, sisters Etta (Farrell), Chrissie (Clarke) and Patsy (Murdock), daughter-in-law Christina, grandchildren Amy and Ryan, great-grandchildren Amber, Lucy and Fiadh, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Mena reposed in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, on Friday, November 1, followed by removal from the funeral home on Saturday, November 2, at 10.30am to St Nathy’s Cathedral arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am followed by interment in Kilcolman Cemetery.
May Philomena rest in peace as sympathy is offered to all those who are bereaved.

‘Remember Me’ round the Lakes 5km run/walk will be held on November 24, starting at 2pm from Facefield National School F12 TX37. Registration opens at 1pm and entry fee is €10 which is payable on the day. A kiddy’s disco will be held at 3pm with Santa arriving at 4pm. There will be a wreath laying ceremony, refreshments served and tree lighting by Enda Kenny. All proceeds are in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

An additional bus goes to Claremorris every Thursday (Route 791), taking in Knocknakill, Drumady, Cappagh, Cullentragh, Currykirwan, Mayo Abbey, Monard, Brize, Facefield and Gurteenmore.
