There was a wildfire in Ballycroy which completely destroyed the scenic boardwalk on the Claggan Mountain Trail. This is one of the most beautiful, and popular, spots in Mayo for hiking and stargazing. Tourism requires a quick pivot sometimes; luckily the good people at Mayo Dark Skies maintain a number of excellent vantage points in the area from which to enjoy the pristine skies.

Iorras Aontaithe U17s continues to consolidate their position at the top of Division 1 with a 5-3 win against Kilmurry on Monday, April 7. Iorras found themselves two goals adrift in the opening half when the visitors scored on 10 minutes and 25 minutes but before the break Iorras had pulled one back on 34 minutes when Kyle Healy scored from a Keelan Barrett cross.
In the second half, Iorras continued to press the visitors and were back level when Cathal O'Malley scored from just outside the area. But against the run of play Kilmurry went in front in the 69th minute. But 2 minutes later Iorras were level again this time from substitute Blake Doocey to make it 3-3.
With the clock ticking down, Iorras finished the game with two quick goals from Kyle Healy (hat-trick). Iorras well and truly put their Connaught Cup exit behind them with this good display.
