Pretty Wedding

Congratulations to Cora Maughan, Corroy, Knockmore and Joseph Flynn, Clossagh, Foxford, who were married in the Church of Christ the King, Knockmore, on Thursday, October 31. Maid of Honour was Alma Waldron, twin sister of the bride and bridesmaid was Caoimhe Ryder, niece of the bride. Best man was Tom Ryder, cousin of the groom and groomsman was Donncha Ryder, nephew of the bride. The beautiful ceremony was performed by Fr Michael Reilly PP, Knockmore, and was attended by a large number of family, relatives and friends. The reception afterwards was held in Belleek Castle Ballina. 

Kmockmore Village Enhancement/Tidy Area AGM

Knockmore Village Enhancement/Tidy Area held their AGM recently and the following officers were elected PJ Duffy (chairman), Amanda Gardiner/Gillian McHugh (joint secretary ), David Connolly (treasurer), and Eileen McHale (PRO). The meeting was attended by Councillor Joe Faughnan and committee members - Gorettii Ward, Kathleen Brogan, Seamus Weir, Agnes Martin, Vincie Walsh and Michael Gaughan.

In her annual report outgoing secretary, Martina Gardiner, gave a comprehensive and detailed report on all works undertaken and completed in the village since the groups formation in 2015 and thanked the members of the various schemes for their dedicated work in completing same.

Congratulations were extended to Joseph Faughnan on his election as Co Councillor to the Ballina Municipal District of Mayo Co Council. The group look forward to working with him for the next five years. The group extended their sincere thanks to out-going Councillor Seamus Weir for all the work he has done for the village in the line of funding, guidance and access to the various Enhancement Projects. 

Knockmore GAA lotto

The numbers drawn on Saturday, November 16, were 5, 11, 13 and 16. Weekly winners were Jose Rutledge, Kate Ruane. Season ticket winners were Mary Dunne, Ollie McVann. Lucky dip winner was Declan Hannick. 

Currabaggan School online lotto

The numbers drawn last week were 1, 3 7 and 15.  €25 winner was Valerie McConnellogue. 

Conn Rangers lotto

The numbers drawn on November 18, were 9 11, 12 and 15. €20 winners were William Murphy, Maureen Roche, Joseph Walsh, Dinny Coleman, Owen McNamara and Chris Walsh. Lucky Dip winner was Owen McNamara. The lastest jackpot increased to €4,650.

Novena to Padre Pio continues every Monday evening in Christ the King Church, Knockmore for Advent at 7pm. 

Lisaniska NS Carol Service

The children from Lisaniska NS will perform a carol service in Knockmore Church on Friday, December 6, at 12 noon. They extend an invitation to all parents, grandparents, past pupils and the entire community to attend.

Welcomed into God's family at their recent Baptism in Christ the King Church, Knockmore, were Conan Liam McHale and Lorcan Butler.

Crossmolina win Connacht title

Congratulations to Crossmolina intermediate team who won their first ever Connacht title in this grade with a hard earned one point 1-7 to 1-6 win over Elphin Roscommon in Hyde Park with Elphins goal coming from a penalty six and a half minutes into injury time. Crossmolina now go on to play the Leinster Champions from Dublin or Kildare on the weekend of January 4/5.

Kilmurry Christmas Party

Kilmurry Christmas Party will be held on Sunday, December 10, starting at 6pm with Mass for the deceased committee members followed by dancing to Mark Travers.

Ellie Sexton won the prelim championship U11, Jack Sexton won the boys open championship U13 and Emma Browne won the girls open championship U7.

Jubilee Mass

The spotlight will be firmly focused on the Church of the Assumption, Ardagh, next Sunday, December 8, when Archbishop Francis Duffy and parish priest Fr Pat Munnelly celebrate a special Mass at 11am to mark the church's Platinum Jubilee. Members of the pastoral council have been very busy over the past number of weeks collecting and collating material for a special display which will be on view at the adjacent community centre where parishioners and clergy will mingle after Mass for light refreshments. The 70th anniversary of the church marks a magnificent milestone which deserves to be celebrated by all parishioners.

There was no outright winner of Ardagh GAA Club's November monthly lotto draw held last week. Numbers drawn were 25, 13, 30 and 21. Lucky €50 winners were Stephen Molloy and Stephen Moran and congratulations to the winners. 

Bag Pack

Ardagh GAA committee members are organising a fundraising bag pack in Dunnes Stores, Ballina, this coming Friday, December 6. Volunteers are required to support the event in order to raise vital funds for the club's ambitious development plans. Anyone willing to help out can contact any committee member who will be delighted to assist with a time slot that is convenient. All help will be greatly appreciated.

All involved with the organisation of the splendid Remembrance Ceremony in Ardagh church last weekend deserve huge praise for arranging such a beautiful candle lit event. The evening of prayer, song and reflection afforded all those in attendance the opportunity to reflect on the passing of their much loved family members in a quiet and contemplative way.

End of Year lotto

Ardagh GAA Club's final lotto draw of the year will take place on Monday, December 30, during the club's annual awards presentation night in Mickey O'Boyle's with a jackpot of €4,700.

Recent death

The death took place recently of Sean McNulty, Ard na Gréine Nursing Home Enniscrone, and formerly Tanzania (Africa), where he taught for a number of years and late of Rathowen, Killala, in Sligo University Hospital. His remains reposed at Lynn's Funeral Home Killala and was buried after 12 noon Mass, in Killala cemetery. May his soul rest in peace.
