Local Notes: Ms Kenny retires from Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone after 24 years.

Staff of Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, gathered in the canteen to honour Ms Kenny who retired after 24 years of service where she taught Physics, Maths and Science.
Ms Margaret Kenny who was a cherished Physics, Maths and Science teacher in Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrine, has retired after 24 years. She inspired generations of students with her wisdom, patience and love for learning. Her passion for Science and the environment and her dedication impacted on everyone she taught and her legacy will live on in the corridors and classrooms of Jesus and Mary Secondary School. Students and staff gathered in the canteen to honour Ms Kenny. The student council spoke on behalf of the student body thanking Ms Kenny for all she had done of the students and they presented her with some beautiful gifts. Ms. Hamilton, Pincipal, paid tribute to Ms Kenny for her tireless work and her dedicated service to the school. She is wished a well deserved retirement filled with health, happiness and lots of new adventures.

The Enniscrone Development Community Company seeks a proactive, community-minded individual with a hands-on approach to facility management. This person must be eligible for Community Employment. Strong communication skills, a friendly demeanour, and a commitment to maintaining a well-functioning space are essential. Prior experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is desirable but not required.

The death took place of Michael ‘Bunny’ Boland, Rehins, Foxford Road, Ballina, and formerly of Carragun, Corballa, Enniscrone on November 8 last, peacefully at the Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was predeceased by his father John, mother Margaret, his brothers Padraic, Tomas, Sean, Atty, baby John and his sister Maura O’Dowd. He was the beloved husband of Anne and dear father of Noelle (UK), Siobhan Brennan (Ballina), Orlaith (Ballina), Michelle Duffy (Slane), Michael (Foxford), Anthony (Tony) (Ballina), Niall (Dallas, Texas) and Dervla (Dublin). He will also be sadly missed by his brothers Gerry and Gay (both Enniscrone), sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Michael reposed at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Sunday evening, November 10, from 5 until 7pm and his funeral arrived to St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, for Requiem Mass on Monday morning, November 11, at 11.30am followed by burial in Leigue Cemetery, Ballina. May he rest in peace.
The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, November 10, were 31, 32 and 42. The €25 prizewinners were Padraic Scott, Des Carroll, Tony Murphy and Brian Coleman. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, November 17d, in Gilroy’s Bar, was €9400.
The annual general meeting of Eoghan Rua Ladies Football Club will take place on Tuesday, December 3, in the Ocean Sands Hotel and all members are invited to attend.
As a club they are always looking for new blood. They would love to have new people coming forward to help out within the club for the coming year. Rathlee Tidy Towns committee extend thanks to all who attended, donated items and money to their recent Bric-a-Brac sale in Rathlee. A total of €1548.72 was raised. This will be used to continue the upkeep of the village. The committee are delighted with the increase in 15 points in this years Tidy Town’s competition in addition to receiving an Endeavour Award. This is a great achievement and the appreciated everyone continued support.

Lights will be switched on the Christmas Tree of Remembrance at Kilglass Parish Community Centre on Saturday, November 30, at 7pm. All are invited to come along to the event of remembrance and celebration which will begin with Mass at 7pm in Kilglass Church, honouring the memory of loved ones and offering prayers for the community’s intentions.
Afterwards, there is a gathering at Kilglass Hub for a festive community evening, where Canon George will officially switch on the Kilglass Christmas Lights. For a donation of €10, a personalised Christmas bauble can be dedicated to someone special and help decorate the Christmas Tree of Remembrance. Last year, LEAP Project Easkey with Easkey Enhancement Association organised a Go Fund Me page to raise funds which helped light up Easkey for Christmas and helped fund a lovely Christmas event where they sang Christmas songs together and welcomed Santa Claus to the village. This year they would like to do it all again. All donations are welcome, no matter how big or small and the organisers are very grateful for all the support they get from the community to run these events that keep the community spirit alive and vibrant. There will be lots more information to follow on what’s happening in Easkey for Christmas.
The Wavy Crafters, Easkey, are holding a craft and cake sale on Sunday, December 8, after Mass (10.45) in the parish meeting room at Stepping Stones. Tea and coffee will be available on the day, with all proceeds towards Easkey Enhancement Association (EEA).
Midwinter Melodies, a stunning concert of seasonal music by candlelight will be held in St Muredach’s Cathedra on Friday, November 29, aty 8pm. It will be hosted by Eileen Dunne with guest artist former Eurovision winner Eimear Quinn, St Muredach’s Cathedral Choir and St Mary’s Secondary School Choir. The death has taken place of Martin McGinty, Woodview House, Ballymonean, Enniscrone, peacefully at the Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by his loving family. Martin was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Peter, sister Jenny, daughters Sandra and nephew Jason. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Maura, daughter Deirdre, son David, daughter-in-law Aisling, sisters Tina, brothers Peter and Chris, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
