Local Notes: Knockmore Foxford Boxing Club Christmas Disco Party.

Some of the children who paid a visit to Santa last year at the Knockmore/Foxford Boxing Club (KFC) Disco party held in the Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre. They are having another disco party on Sunday, December 22, from 2pm with Santa arriving by sleigh at 3pm.
For the second year in succession the Knockmore/Foxford Boxing Club (KFC) will stage a huge free disco party event on Sunday next, December 22, at 2pm in the Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre. Santa will arrive in his Sleigh at 3pm courtesy of Tommy Doherty. Photo's with Santa and all activities will be snapped by local star photographer Aaron Gallagher. DJ for the event will be Luke Armstrong and music will be played until 5pm. Numerous activity events are planned including penalty shootouts, Basketball shooting, Racing, Dance competition, Best Dressed for the occassion and many other ball games. Awards will be presented to the winners in each catagory. KFC will be making a huge announcement concerning the future of the club in the very near future.
Penitential Service/Confession for Christmas will take place at all weekend Masses on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22. There will be three priests available to help.
A further choir practice for Christmas Eve Mass will take place in the church on Friday evening, December 20, at 7pm. Singers and musicians are welcome.
Currabaggan NS Christmas Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 18, at 12.30pm and 7.30pm in Knockmore Community Hall entitled ‘Currabaggan Christmas Past and Present’. Concert tickets are now on sale priced at €12.
The numbers drawn last week were 1, 11, 12 and 18. There was no jackpot winner and the €25 winner was Roisin Walshe. A special Christmas draw will take place on December 19.
The numbers drawn on Saturday, December 7, was 8, 10, 22 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. Weekly winners were Gerry Coleman and T Walshe, while the season ticket winners were Des Moyles and John People's. Lucky dip winner was Declan Hannick. The jackpot in the latest draw held on December 14, was €10,000. Your support is much appreciated.
Butterflies Playschool in Knockmore are performing their annual nativity play in the centre in Knockmore on Wednesday morning, December 18. Parents and grandparents are invited. As always this is a very special occasion for all involved.
The Parent and Toddler Group are having their annual Christmas get together on Thursday morning, December 19, at 10am in the centre in Knockmore.

Entries for Ardagh GAA Club's Quiz Loco have now closed. There has been great interest in the event which was held for the first time last December. Organised by the players the fun quiz proved hugely successful and entertaining for participants and supporters alike. The quiz kicks off at 8pm in Mickey O'Boyle's this Friday night, December 20, and the organisers are hoping for a huge response on the night. All proceeds go to the club's new gymnasium development fund and music will be provided following the quiz.
Everybody involved with the production of the Western People's recently published Christmas magazine, ‘Western Star’, are to be congratulated on another superbly produced publication. The magazine is a compendium of hugely interesting articles written in humorous and easy to read styles covering a span of yesteryear to the present. Available countywide at all newsagents, book shops and Western People offices in Ballina and Castlebar. The festive magazine, which is very modestly priced at €5, is an ideal stocking filler for the season that's in it.
Ardagh GAA Club wish to thank all who supported the club's recent bag pack in Dunnes Stores, Ballina. Gratitude is expressed to all who helped out on the day, the staff and management of Dunnes Stores, volunteers and all the shoppers for their generosity.
The National PTAA is organising a supporters draw for pioneers and friends of the PTAA from January to June of next year. The draw will be held on the third Wednesday of each month commencing in January. Tickets are priced at €40 and can be obtained from Maeve Tierney, Crossmolina, or Una Birrane, Moygownagh.

The annual general meeting of Ardagh GAA Club will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 12 noon in the community centre and everyone is welcome to attend.

Cooneal Community Committee thank all those who sponsored or helped in any way with the very enjoyable annual Christmas Party in the Great National Hotel Ballina on Sunday, December 8. The afternoon started with Mass celebrated by Fr Michael Harrison, Fr Gerry Moore and Fr James Corcoran. The people all enjoyed an excellent dinner followed by music and dancing. The music was played by Martin Gorman and Gabriel McNulty Christmas wishes. Best wishes to all our writers and readers at home and abroad for Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
