They participated in various activities throughout the school year based around Irish legends, storytelling and puppeteering. They used the huge puppets they had created to tell the stories of Fionn MacCumhaill, the Black Pig and Aengus the Giant to the backdrop of the woods. It was truly magical evening and both participants and spectators had great fun.

Life in the modern world can be stressful for everyone, including children who can sometimes struggle to cope. With this in mind all at Stokane NS were delighted to receive delivery of their sensory pod. This provides a quiet safe space for any pupil who needs it during the day. The feedback from the pupils has been overwhelmingly positive, and they look forward to their quiet time away from the business of the classroom.
Congratulations are extended to the boys team who were victorious after a thrilling final against Castlerock NS in this year’s Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic football competition. For a bit of fun, Stokane NS had an ‘Anything but a bag’, day where pupils came to school bringing their books in ‘anything but a bag’. They had a wide variety of containers arrive, some more appropriate for book carrying than others … they ranged from buckets and shopping baskets to a doll’s pram and a coal scuttle, most of which were not ideal for daily school use but made everyone laugh.
There has been massive amounts of work happening at the Easkey Community Permaculture Garden but it has been such a great team effort, with everyone giving a little bit of time to make it happen, and some giving a lot. The committee appreciate and thank all the people who have dropped in seedlings, cardboard and compost. They had a huge windfall with old floorboards from a skip and these will be used to make the raised bad structure.
Everyone in the community is welcome to join in this wonderful venture. If you are around for the summer and would like to drop in or if you have a little free time on your hands, drop them a message on 086 8178862 and you will be added to the WhatsApp Group.
