Congratulations to the Eoghan Rua Ladies U14 team who put in a stellar performance on Saturday, September 30, to overcome CT Gaels in miserable conditions in Castleconnor. The club extend huge thanks to all the management for their hard work and commitment all year. Captain Aoibheann Garvey accepted the cup on behalf of the team. The full time score was Eoghan Rua 5-7, CT Gaels 1-4.
On a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-10, Western Gaels Hurling and Camogie Club claimed the U17A Yeats Tavern Championship over their near neighbours Easkey. In a blustery Markievicz Park the match proved much closer than the scoreline suggests but goals from Diarmuid Feeney, Niall Duffy and Luke Tuffy for Western Gaels proved critical in claiming the championship.
Western Gaels goalkeeper TJ Foody made some brilliant saves and goalmouth clearances to keep Western Gaels in the game but the team effort and pressure put on Easkey made space for some excellent scores. Captain Neil Kelly lifted the Yeats Tavern Championship Cup after (capt) the game.
Well done to the players, management, parents and team sponsors TradeConnex – Labour Hire.
