At a fundraising event held in Doohoma Banks recently €1400 was raised for Doohoma School. The Doohoma team defeated Roy, 2-0, in the Mangan Brothers, Mocha Beans sponsored Cup. Teresa Moram Memorial Darts

The second annual Teresa Moran Memorial Darts competition will be held in the Anglers Rest in Glenamoy on Sunday, January 12. Registration will commence at 3pm with a 4pm start. The entry fee is €10 and there are four dart boards in use. There will be refreshments on the afternoon plus raffle with funds going to Help Mag’s Fund. All spot prizes and donation will be very welcome.

Kiltane GAA club news

There was no winner of this week’s Kiltane GAA Club weekly lotto jackpot of €16,000 with the two €50 winners being, Luke Reilly, Geesala and Owen Deane, Mountjubilee while Megan Barrett, Geesala and Eva Healy, Glenamoy both won €25. The two online winners were Owen Deane, Mountjubilee €50 and Caroline Sweeney, Bangor €25.

Bingo will take place in the GAA complex Bangor on Tuesday, January 7, at 8pm where the jackpot will be €600 in 47 calls or less.

Congratulations to Paddy Corrigan on his election as President of The North Mayo GAA Board. He is wished every success throughout his Presidency.

Belmullet Sea Angling Club

Belmullet Sea Angling Club’s annual Portacloy beach competition was held recently with anglers from all over Mayo, Donegal, Eastern Europe and from the USA all testing their skills on the beautiful beach of Portacloy. The winners of the Christmas competition held on December 27, for the Shane Coyle cup are as follows: 1st Joe Chambers, 2nd Arthur Thurrat, 3rd Shane Gilvarry, 4th Brian Mooney, 5th Billy Gilvarry, and Longest fish Sally Gilvarry.

Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust

To mark Linda Conway’s birthday this year, Linda is asking for donations to Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. Linda has chosen this charity because their mission means a lot to her, and Linda hopes that you'll consider contributing as a way of celebrating with her. Every little bit will help her reach her goal. The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aim to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland and if you decide to give, you can choose who can see that you donated or donate privately.

Erris Parkrun

Event number 385. On New Year's Day Parkrun 30 people ran, jogged and walked the course in a cool 5 degrees and a sharp northerly breeze. They had four first timers - Ronald Wilson, Ciara Kane, Mark Caffrey and Ellen McDonnell. Congrats to Jess Britton on her personal best. Representatives of seven different clubs took part.

Well done and congrats to Anthony Corbett, from Castlebar Parkrun, who completed his 200th parkrun with them on the day. Anthony also completed his 50th Parkrun at Erris. The event was made possible by nine volunteers - Catherine Clinton, Marie Brogan, Kayla Doherty, Eithne Dixon, Roseleen Reilly, Harry Reilly, Róisín Reilly, Eddie McAndrew, Kea Lavelle. Daniel Doherty Memorial Pool Competition.

The 2025 Daniel Doherty Memorial Pool Competition will take place on February 1 and 2, 2025 in Connolly’s Pub Stonefield. More information to follow in the coming weeks. They will not be taking names until then.

Calendar launch

The 2025 Slaintecare Healthy Communities Calendar will be launched in Aras Inis Gluaire on January 8, and in Achill Tourist Office on January 10. For the 2025 calendar they hosted a photography competition among all ages to secure wonderful scenes that could be included in the calendar. While only 12 photographs were chosen, they will showcase the other 120 photos that they received at the launches. Feel free to come along at 12 noon on January 8 or January 10 to see the majestic scenery in Erris and Achill. Free calendars will be available at each venue. Slaintecare Healthy 

Slainte Healthy Communities are also continuing to provide a host of programmes and initiatives in the parishes of Ballycroy and Kiltane from early 2025 onwards. Tullaghan Bay Rowing Club

Tullaghan Bay Rowing Club are hosting their very 1st club dinner dance on Sunday, February 2, in the Erris Coast Hotel. This will be a night of celebrating their achievements, recognising their hard work but more importantly a night of fun and laughter and they would love if you could join them. Tickets include a drinks reception and a 4 course sumptuous dinner, complimentary raffle, followed by Michael S and Clodagh and finishing with a late night disco. They also have an optional Black and White Dress Code, everyone is welcome. Cill Chomain GAA dinner dance

Cill Chomain GAA will hold their dinner dance on January 24 beginning at 7.30 in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel. Tickets which cost €45 are on sale locally in the shops and pubs. The last date for purchasing tickets is January 17. Unfortunately the club will strictly not be able to sell any tickets after this date.
