New show set to be revealed

Ballinrobe Musical Society will be revealing their 2027 show in Inches Bar, Ballinrobe, on Friday, July 10, at 7pm. All are invited to attend.

Ballinrobe Golf Club

The results of a mixed scramble competition held at Ballinrobe Golf Club on Thursday, June 25, were as follows: 1st (28.9) Niall Staunton, Ciaran Ferriter, James Waldron, and Jim McGovern; 2nd (29.4) Iarla Reilly, Martin Vahey, Denis Harrington, and Phyllis Loftus. A total of 24 players competed in the event which was sponsored by the Bowers Bar and Restaurant.

Tacú Centre 50/50 draw

Chrsitina Hynes was the winner of €160 in last week’s 50/50 draw conducted by the Tacú Family Resource Centre, Ballinrobe.

Parent Steering Group

The Tacú Family Resource Centre, Main Street, is looking for people to join the Parents Sterring Group which aims to make services in the Tacú Centre better for everyone. Ballinrobe Women’s Shed

The Ballinrobe Women’s Shed Group meets every Monday from 11am to 1pm, in the building adjacent to the Water Towers, Kilmaine Road, (Eircode F31 XK09). The group is open to women aged 18 and over. Those taking part can share their skills and talents, have a chat, and a cup of tea/coffee. New members are welcome. The group will have an information for potential new members on September 29. Men’s Shed

The Men’s Shed group meets every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am to 1pm, in the building adjacent to the Water Towers, Kilmaine Road, (Eircode F31 XK09).

This group is open to men aged 18 and over, with new members welcome. A range of activities take place including: music, woodwork, pottery, gardening, and is also open to men who just want to call in for a chat and a cup of tea/coffee. Befriending phone calls

The Tacú Family Resource Centre can provide befriending phone calls to those feeling isolated or who just want to have a friendly chat over the phone. Those interested in availing of this service are asked to contact the centre on 094 9542908.

The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) have an outreach service in the Tacú Centre. This service can help you if you are struggling with bills, payments, and debts. This outreach service can meet you by appointment. You can make initial contact by calling 076 1072000.

Chess club for children

A chess club for children takes place every Thursday evening in Ballinrobe. Parents wishing to register their children are asked to contact 087 9884388.

Ballinrobe GAA Club lotto draw

There was no winner of the €10,100 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Monday, June 29. The numbers drawn were 8, 10, 22 and 24. The match three winners of €100 were Lorraine Daly, John Ruane, and Dennis Conroy.

FAI Summer Camp

Ballinrobe Town AFC will hold an FAI Summer Camp for children aged 6-14. The camp will take place from July 13 to July 17 at The Green from 10am to 1pm daily. Parents wishing to register their children are asked to visit www.fai.ie.

Rugby Summer Camp

A Connacht Rugby Summer Camp will take place in The Green, Ballinrobe, from July 27 to Julu 31, running from 9.30am to 1pm daily. The camp is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12. Those attending will learn the skills of the game, with fun exercises alongside expert coaches, as well as making new friends. Attendees will receive a Connacht Rugby gift. The Neale GAA Club lotto

There was no winner of the €6,700 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Tuesday, June 30. The numbers drawn were 14, 15, 18 and 24. The €30 winners were Graham Casey and Paul Higgins. The €25 winners were Fionn Brady, and Christina Moran.

Kilmaine GAA Club lotto

There was no winner of the €27,400 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Monday, June 29. The numbers drawn were 10, 12, 26 and 31. The €20 winners were Patricia Walsh, Eddie Curran, and Sandra Young.

Garrymore GAA Club lotto

Join the friendly members of the Mayo Genealogy Group at their next meeting, from 11.30am to 1pm, on Saturday, July 11, at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, in Turlough. This is a voluntary group brought together by a keen interest in genealogy. The numbers drawn in the lotto which was held on Tuesday, June 30, were 1, 21, 28 and 33. There was no jackpot winner, and the €30 winners were Audrey Burke, Patricia Lydon, Bernard Haywood and Maura Jordan. The jackpot in the draw to be held this evening Tuesday, July 7, is €19,800.

Community Services

Nature Trail – Woodland Explorer 

The grounds of Turlough Park are home to lots of different habitats with woodland, gardens, lake and river areas. Throughout the biodiverse grounds, you can explore plants, trees, birds and animals, big and small. Some are native and some are not. Pick up the new ‘Woodland Explorer’ activity booklet from Museum reception to learn more on a self-guided nature trail through Turlough Park. Use your keen senses and skills to complete a series of fun nature challenges to finish the trail! No booking required and the nature trail has free admission.

Community Council meeting

The next meeting of Islandeady Community Council is Friday, July 10, at 8pm in Jack’s Cottage. There will be a BBQ and refreshments afterwards. All members are asked to attend.

GAA notes

There was no winner of the last Islandeady GAA lotto draw on Sunday, July 5, in the Key West, when the jackpot was €12,700.

Underage football training continues each Saturday morning from 9.30 to 10.30am in the GAA pitch. This is a fantastic opportunity for young players to get involved and play football with their local club. Its also fun, exercise and a great way to make new friends. Islandeady GAA Cúl Camp is now open for registration and will take place from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31 You can book/register at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.

Islandeady walks

The Islandeady walks continue on Monday evenings for 2026. Last week’s walk was from the Key West – Graffymore Loop which was 5km. The group thank Gary and staff for the lovely cuppa and refreshments afterwards. On Monday, July 6 the group walked the Bridges Loop, meeting at Jacks Cottage at 7pm and walked towards the Three Bridges, then returning by the Church Rd to Jacks cottage. All walkers are encouraged to wear their hi-vis jackets and encouraged to come out and join the group in seeing the scenic views of Islandeady while getting a few steps in.
