Balla GAA Club lotto jackpot prize stood at €6,900 for the latest draw on Thursday, June 20, in The Rendezvous. The numbers drawn the previous week on Thursday, June 13, in The Shebeen were 13, 14, 18 and 22. There was no winner of the jackpot. The €30 winners were Geraldine Surdival (online), Bernie Hughes (online) and Tom and Jacqui Walsh (standing order). The club are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of the community.

Drystone Walling Workshop

Would you like to do drystone walling workshop on July 27 and 28 from 10am to 4.30pm? Learn the traditional skill of drystone walling with conservation stonemason Dominic Keogh. This introductory two day workshop will have participants working together as a team to create a stone feature over the course of the weekend and leaving with the skills to repair and build their own drystone walls. Summer Camp

Manulla FC Summer Camp will take place from August 19 to 23 this summer. The camp will run daily from 10.30am to 2.30pm. The camp will be suitable for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years of age. The fees are 1 child, €60, 2 children €110 and 3 children €160. Mindspace Mayo offers a free support service to young people (12-25 years) in Co Mayo, presenting with anything from common concerns, such as dealing with break-up, exam stress, bullying) to emerging mental health difficulties like mild depression and anxiety. Anti-Litter Education campaign

Mayo County Council invite submissions from Community Groups, Residents Associations, Schools, Tidy Town Committees or other organisations who are interested in receiving funding to co-fund public education and awareness initiatives against litter or graffiti. Completed submissions should be made to the Environment section of Mayo County Council not later than Friday, July 5. Application forms are available below. Balla Bingo

Balla Bingo takes place on Sundays at Balla Community Centre or online, 8pm. There is €12,000 in the prize fund on Sunday nights. Indeed there are great prizes every Sunday night, 50/50 winners in house and online, free book give away on the night. Don't forget to buy your books before 12 noon on Sundays. Croi fundraising success

A cheque for €2575 the proceeds of the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail Walk in April was recently presented to Paul Cunnane from Croi in Clogher on June 19. The walk was organised by members of the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail and the staff of the Community Employment Scheme in Clogher.

Clogher Environmental Group has been chosen by Tesco to be a recipient of the Blue Token for the next 10 weeks or so. Anybody shopping in Tesco is encouraged to support Clogher by placing their tokens in the Clogher Environmental Group slot. Many thanks for your continued support.

Clogher Centre Services

The Plant Swap / Free to take away stand are still in situ at the Heritage Cottage. There various kinds of potted plants there at the moment including tomato and strawberry plants which are free to take away. Visitors can also leave a plant if that suits. At the Community Hall there is a book swap/ take away with a large numbers of bestsellers, historical novels and reference books available. The Community Centre is open Monday to Friday. Please feel free to avail of these facilities.

The death took place in of Malachy Glynn, London, formerly of Portagh, Mayo Abbey. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Maureen, son James (Portagh), sisters, Lorna and Anna.

Sympathy is also extended to Veronica Browne, Mossbrook, Mayo Abbey, on the sudden death of her brother Michael Heraty, Drummin, Westport.

Bereavement Support meetings

Life after bereavement can feel very lonely. Trained facilitators conduct a weekly ‘Bereavement Support Meeting’ at the Family Centre, Knock Shrine, each Wednesday at 11am.
