There was no winner of the €11,200 lotto jackpot draw which was held on Monday, January 5. The numbers drawn were 2, 26, 33 and 34.
Membership of Ballinrobe GAA and LGFA is now open for the upcoming 2026 season. All membership details and payment options are available through the Ballinrobe Club App which can be downloaded from the Apple or Google playstore. Various membership options are available to suit all members and families. All playing members are not covered to train or play games under the GAA Injury Benefit Fund until membership has been paid in full.

Living well is a free HSE programme for adults with long-term health conditions. A new six-week programme (running one day a week) will commence in Ballinrobe on Tuesday, January 20, from 10.30am to 1pm. The programme can be completed online or in-person and is delivered by trained leaders. Those taking part will learn self-management skills and confidence to live well with their health conditions and learn from each other’s experiences.

A health and well being programme for first and second year secondary school students will commence in the Maple Youth Centre, Bowgate Street, on Monday, January 19, from 4.15pm to 6pm. Those who would like to register are asked to contact Paula on 087 2430695.
The weekly game of bingo returned to Ballinrobe last week following the Christmas holidays. Bingo takes place every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in the Parish Centre.
The Samaritans are hoping to recruit volunteers in Castlebar and its surrounding areas. An information evening will take place in their branch at 21 Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Thursday, January 15, anytime between 5 to 7pm. The Cawley Family were the winners of €415 in the weekly 50/50 draw which was held on Sunday, January 4.
The Ballinrobe junior men’s team recorded a crucial and impressive league victory at home to Creggs Second XV, on Sunday week last. Despite the bitterly cold conditions at The Green, a vocal home attendance saw a highly competitive fixture which ended in a 38-12 victory for the Robesiders.
Ballinrobe were very efferent on the counterattack and tries from Liam Burke and Sean Mullin, coupled with Dylan Keane’s conversions, mustered a 14-0 lead for the south Mayo side midway through the first half. Ballinrobe continued to play with plenty of vim and vigour during the first half and they led 28-7 at the interval.
A positive start to the new half was crucial for Creggs, but a fine try from Ballinrobe’s Darragh Lynch galvanized the host’s lead.
Th try scorers for Ballinrobe on the day were Liam Burke (2), Sean Mullin, Darragh Lynch, Carrick Roberts, and Thomas Morris. Ballinrobe’s ace place kicker Dylan Keane added some vital conversions for the locals. The victory sees Ballinrobe move up to fifth place in the league table on 18 points and just one point outside the Super 4’s.
Ballinrobe’s final league fixture will take place on Sunday, February 1, when they welcome Galwegians Second XV to The Green. Victory over the Crowley Park side coupled with other results going their way, would see the Robesiders clinch a place in the Super 4’s.
