Special tribute to Fr Frank

There was a memorable and moving celebration at the Feast of Corpus Christi at Ballintubber Abbey on Friday, June 5.

The planned Lakeside Mass at Castleburke could not take place due to the inclement weather. However, Ballintubber Abbey was filled to capacity as the community gathered to celebrate Corpus Christi and to mark Fr Frank Fahey’s 90th birthday and his remarkable 40 years of service to Ballintubber community.

Mass was celebrated by Fr Michael Farragher and Deacon James McLoughlin. In his homily, Fr Michael spoke of the privilege and honour Ballintubber have experienced in having Fr Fahey serve the community for the past 40 years. He thanked him for his faith, hope, hard work, dedication, friendship, and unwavering commitment to the people of Ballintubber throughout those years.

The celebration was beautifully enhanced by the music of the Ballintubber Abbey Choir, whose uplifting vocal contribution added impressively to the occasion.

It was an emotional and heartfelt service, culminating in a standing ovation from the congregation as Fr Frank left the altar. It was a fitting tribute to a priest who has touched many lives and given much to the community.

Thank you to everyone who joined in celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi and in honouring Fr Fahey’s extraordinary legacy of service, faith, and friendship.
