CARRA COUNTRY

The late Mary Hession

It is with deep regret we record the passing of Mary Hession (née O'Toole) Ballinaglee, Ballyglass, Claremorris, Co. Mayo. Mary passed away peacefully, in Galway University Hospital after a long illness very bravely borne. Her passing is a great loss to her husband Jimmy, her daughters Patricia and Caroline, her siblings, in-laws and grandchildren and the extended family.

A former member of Ballyglass ICA, Mary was also widely known across the wider region especially with her participation and organisation of ceile dancing in Carnacon Centre. She organised and compiled the annual calendar which was of huge benefit to dancers across the county and further afield. A psychiatric nurse by profession Mary had the respect and admiration of her peers and many friends. Mary knew the trauma and heartbreak of bereavement as she was predeceased by her son Seamus, her sister Bernie and her brother Sean, and brother-in-law Micky.

She is deeply regretted by her heartbroken husband Jimmy, daughters Patricia and Caroline, sister Eileen and brother Micheal, her grandchildren Evan, Ava, Emily-Rose, Lily and Mikey, brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Nuala, Marie, Josephine and Bridie, sons-in-law Declan and Micheal, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom profound sympathy is tendered. There was a huge attendance present as Mary’s remains reposed in Carnacon Community Centre on Sunday evening from 5pm with removal then taking place to St. Mary's Church, Carnacon. Fr Michael Farragher PP, celebrated her Funeral Mass on Monday of last week at 12 noon with the funeral proceeding to Burriscarra cemetery. Suaimhneas agus síochán síoraí di i measc na nAingeal.

Michael’s Marathon

Michael Corcoran will run in another Dublin marathon in a few weeks’ time. This year Michael’s fundraising run will be for the Cancer Society of Ireland. Over 9,000 people passed away last year from this awful illness and while great improvements are being made each year, Michael’s hope is that the money raised will be a comfort for all those battling to keep cancer away. If you would like to support just click on the following link - www.justgiving.com/page/michael-corcoran-1695128059352 and donate what you can. Many thanks to those who have donated so far and the option to donate will also be made available locally in the coming weeks.
