VW reveals pricing for new models

The e-Transporter is priced from €53,695 after grants.

The new seventh-generation Volkswagen transporter van range is now available in Ireland with a start price of €39,265, writes Trish Whelan.

It is offered in short and long-wheelbase guises with normal or high roofs. It offers significantly more space, and higher payloads than before and has a towing capacity of up to 2.8 tonnes.

Three new 2.0 diesel engines offer outputs of 100hp, 150hp and 170hp. Buyers have a choice of 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic. The long-wheelbase Transporter can fit three Euro pallets and takes a payload of up to 1.33t (TDI only).

The e-Transporter, priced from €53,695 after grants, offers a choice of three power outputs of 136hp, 218hp and 286hp. Power is from a 64kWh battery giving a range of up to 331km WLTP on a single charge. An optional all-wheel drive version will follow.

The new Caravelle, from €62,725, offers 6-, 8- or 9-seat formats. Engine options are the 2.0 TDI 150hp and a 170hp TDI. The all-electric e-Caravelle has two power outputs of 136hp and 218hp.

The new range comes with a five-year warranty and five years of roadside assistance and service plan.

Both vehicles are available to order now at your local VW dealer in the West, the Connolly Motor Group.
