The new Model Y features extensive re-engineering, maximising efficiency, comfort, connectivity.

Building on the features of the world’s best-selling car, Tesla’s latest Model Y has a new design with distinctive lighting, quieter ride and is even more efficient, writes Trish Whelan.

The new Model Y features extensive re-engineering, maximising efficiency, comfort, connectivity, and safety with a completely redesigned interior and exterior.

The two front seats have been redesigned for improved comfort and are now ventilated. The second-row seats also offer enhanced comfort and convenience with easier-to-access buckles, longer cushions, deeper bolsters, with powered recline and fold-flat operation.

Second-row passengers have their own 8-inch touchscreen featuring integrated climate controls and entertainment options including gaming, audio, and video streaming. Hardware improvements will enable additional features via over-the-air software updates, free of charge for owners, in the future.

The new Model Y is now available to order in Ireland starting with a limited edition - new Model Y Launch Series, Long Range All-Wheel Drive, offering 568km of range, a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds. The car went on display in Ireland at the end of January priced from €48,021. Deliveries begin in March.

Model Y is produced in Europe for Europeans.
