Renault's new Trafic wins International Van of the Year
Renault’s new Trafic Van E-Tech electric has been named International Van of the Year 2027.
Renault’s new Trafic Van E-Tech electric has been named International Van of the Year 2027, winning the prestigious industry award by a unanimous vote of the 26-member jury representing 26 European countries.
The award was presented at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover on September 14. It marks the sixth time a Renault light commercial vehicle has won the International Van of the Year title, following previous victories for Master, Trafic and Kangoo.
The jury recognised the new Trafic Van E-Tech electric for its combination of efficiency, innovation, safety, environmental performance and practicality for professional users. The award comes as Renault begins a new generation of electric light commercial vehicles designed around the changing needs of businesses and fleets.
The Trafic Van E-Tech electric introduces Renault’s Software-Defined Van (SDV) architecture, allowing vehicle functions to be updated and enhanced throughout the van’s life. Renault says the system is designed to improve efficiency, personalisation and safety while helping reduce total cost of ownership.
Built on a new all-electric platform and produced at Renault’s Sandouville plant in France, the new Trafic combines a compact, agile footprint with a cargo capacity designed to meet the requirements of professional users. The Trafic nameplate has sold more than 2.8 million vehicles since its introduction in 1980.
Renault says the new model delivers a driving range of more than 470 km on the combined cycle. Its 800V electrical architecture enables rapid charging, with up to 280 km of range recoverable in 20 minutes.
Jarlath Sweeney, Chairman, International Van of the Year jury, said: “The new Trafic Van E-Tech electric meets the IVOTY requirements for high standards of efficiency, safety, environmental performance and sustainability of light-goods transport.”
The new Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric will be making it's Irish debut at Nevo EV Show at RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin, on November 7 and 8 next.
