Nissan Qashqai sets new world record
The Qashqai was equipped with next generation e-POWER for the journey.
Nissan's Qashqai e-POWER has achieved a Guinness World Records title with a 1,980 km drive in Colombia.
The Qashqai, equipped with next generation e-POWER, earned a Guinness World Records title for the longest journey completed by a non-plug-in extended-range electric vehicle SUV without external charging or refuelling.
Covering 1,980 km on a single tank, the record-setting drive showcased the efficiency, range confidence and real-world capability of Nissan's e-POWER technology.
The journey took place in Colombia from July 14 to 27, travelling from Bogota to the Caribbean coast and covering a wide variety of road, traffic and driving conditions. Every stage of the attempt was independently monitored and verified by Guinness World Records judges, who certified the achievement following a detailed review process. It follows successful long-distance challenges in the UK and Tasmania.
Meanwhile, Fiat Ireland has refreshed the Team Ireland fleet with the all-new Grande Panda, swapping out the current fleet of Fiat 600s as part of its role as Official Vehicle Partner to the Olympic Federation of Ireland (OFI).
The handover took place at Team Ireland HQ in the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbotstown with Team Ireland athletes Sarah Lavin, Philip Doyle and Thomas Barr on hand to welcome the new fleet.
As part of the partnership, Fiat provide Team Ireland athletes access to a dedicated fleet of cars, supporting those based in Ireland with training and events, as well as athletes living and training abroad who need a car for short trips home. Two Fiat Professional vans complete the fleet.
