In Ireland, the Skoda Superb has been the best-selling car in its segment over the last seven years.

Skoda has released full details of its latest flagship Superb, writes Trish Whelan.

In Ireland, the Skoda Superb has been the best-selling car in its segment over the last seven years with almost 9,000 Superb models delivered to customers. The Superb Combi estate accounted for 19% of the sales mix (one in five) last year with 41pc of Superb sales delivered to Fleet Business Customers. Some 95% of Superb sales last year were diesel.

The fourth generation of the Skoda ICE flagship will be available as a hatchback and Combi estate. Both versions are longer and taller than before but have the same wheelbase. The estate’s total boot capacity with the rear seats down is a huge 1,920 litres. The interior has been completely redesigned.

The all-new Superb will have three petrol engines with outputs of from 150hp to 265hp, two diesels of from 150hp and 193hp, and an improved plug-in hybrid with an electric range of more than 100kms, plus a mild hybrid for the first time.

Over 1.6 million Skoda Superbs have rolled off assembly lines since it was launched in 2001.
