Busy day at first weanling sale of 2026 at Mayo/Sligo mart
Monday was the first sale of weanling of 2026 with a great yard of top-quality stock on offer.
Most will agree that calves will not be as dear as last year but in certain categories especially the top third of Char & LM calves were nearly on par with last year’s sale.
We had a very active export trade purchasing 52% of the bulls on offer from 360kg upward with two new exporters ringside. We also had farmers buying ringside and online and well able to compete with larger feeders & agents.

The weanling heifer ring was very active with demand mostly farmers and agents with over 30% of the heifers bought online which was very active. Heifers 300-400kg averaged €4.82pkg / 200-300kg averaged €4.95kg.
