Kilkelly gets set for its annual summer festival

Festival week is always a very special occasion in Kilkelly.
The Kilkelly Festival’s Free Family Fun Day returns this Bank Holiday Monday, August 5, bringing fun, food, music, excitement and something for all ages to enjoy to Kilkelly.
A true highlight of the east Mayo calendar, the day is one not to be missed. It is packed with plenty of events and lots of fantastic prizes to be won in a monster raffle taking place in the evening time.
Before that, on the Green from 12pm to 4pm, there is a wide range of events to keep the kids entertained. There will be a disco, face painting, balloon modelling, fancy dress, games, a magician, a ball pond, free refreshments and more, suitable for children of all ages. What is more, it is all free thanks to the very generous donations from local businesses.
There will be a wide selection of stalls setting up in the car park for attendees to browse all day. Kilkelly’s annual potatoes picking competition will take place around 5pm which promises to be great fun with a little bit of a competitive edge.
The monster raffle will be one of the highlights of the day and there is a broad selection of prizes for the lucky winners. Among the prizes is a trailer load of timber that has been kindly donated by Kieran Sloyan that will keep the house cosy and warm in the winter ahead. Other prizes include vouchers for local businesses, hampers, a gas BBQ and lots, lots more. The raffle draw takes place at 6pm in the Community Centre.
The annual BBQ will take place throughout the day with all funds raised going towards a defibrillator for the town.
There will be music throughout the evening as well in the Community Centre. Ollie Burke is up first at 4pm and at 7pm Cathal & Ollie take to the stage.
It promises to be an unforgettable occasion at the Kilkelly Free Family Fun Day this August Bank Holiday Monday, August 5.
