Harpist Holly launches new album

Harpist Holly Geraghty releases her new album tomorrow (Wednesday).

Holly Geraghty's debut solo harp album, Musical Musings from Mayo, will be officially launched on this Wednesday, June 26, at 8pm in Matt Molloy’s Pub, Westport.

This 10-track album pays tribute to the people, music and landscape of Holly’s native Mayo, featuring a captivating blend of old and newly composed Irish traditional repertoire deeply connected to this region.

The album includes guest artists Matt Griffin on guitar, Dan Bodwell/Caimin Gilmore on double bass, and Maria Ryan and Lucia MacPartlin on violin.

Holly is a distinguished harper, composer and educator, who is originally from Ballindine. Immersed in the world of Irish traditional music from an early age, Holly initially began to play the concertina before moving on to the harp.

Holly is a recipient of numerous All-Ireland titles on both instruments and has showcased her talents across Europe, Britain, North America and Canada while also nurturing budding talents at academic institutions and international festivals. She holds a Bachelor of Music, a Graduate Diploma in Music Education, a Masters in Irish Traditional Music Performance, and a Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership.

Holly's 2009 duet album Ceolmhar received much critical acclaim.

Musical Musings from Mayo will be available for purchase from www.hollygeraghty.com and major streaming platforms from June 27.
