The father and child found dead at a home in Dublin over the weekend have been named locally.

The bodies of Krzysztof Daczkowski and his five-year-old daughter Julia Daczkowsa were discovered in Heathfield Terrace in Finglas on Saturday night.

It is believed there was no third-party involvement in their deaths.

The Irish Times reports that Julia Daczkowsa is believed to have died by strangulation, and that gardaí are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide.

Conor Gallagher, Crime Correspondent with The Irish Times, said they were found by the girl's mother.

"On Saturday at around 8 o'clock or just before it, the mother came home from work, she works in retail, and made this horrible discovery," he said.

"She found the child in a bedroom and the father outside the bedroom and she called emergency services who came to the scene but were unable to revive either of the people."

On Sunday, a large gardaí presence was seen outside the property within the housing estate, including plain-clothed detectives and forensic officers.

A gardaí spokesperson said: “The coroner has been notified and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.

“Post-mortem examinations will be arranged in due course.

“The results of these examinations will assist gardaí in determining the course of the investigation.”
