The Enniscrone Black Pig Festival is set to return this week with an exciting line-up of events from Thursday, July 25 to Monday, July 29.

Enjoy the perfect day out with friends and family in the beautiful west Sligo seaside town of Enniscrone. There will be music, food and events for all ages taking place throughout the Black Pig Festival.

Opening day on Thursday will start with the famous Pig on a Spit at the Old Church from 6pm. There will also be a Taste of Enniscrone food fair where you can sample local delights and treats, as well as live music from Ceoltas and face-painting for the kids.

Friday is the first of three days packed with events over the weekend. Murray's Fun Fair and Amusements will be at Castlefield all day from Friday to Sunday. Friday’s events are starting at 10am with Yoga at the Beach with Celine Byrne. Abhainn Studio hosts two brilliant events for kids, firstly from 12pm-3pm there will be a Piggy Banks Pottery Painting event with Hullaballo and this is followed from 3 to 6pm with a Lollipop Tie-Dye Experience.

Also on Friday, a Children’s Busking event takes place on the Promenade from 2pm to 5pm, enquiries to blackpigchildrensbuskingevent@gmail.com. One of the day’s big events will be a Fun Sports Day from 4 to 8pm at Enniscrone-Kilglass Soccer club. Bring all the friends and family along to enjoy games like the sack race, egg and spoon race, three legged race and more. There will be a shuttle service to the event from the Church on Main Street from 3.45pm.

Doppler play in Abhainn Studio with support from Rosie Connolly from 7pm and the comedian John Colleary, with support from Terry Markey, is in the Ocean Sands from 8.30pm. Tickets for both events are on Eventbrite. There will be an Open Mic Night in McNulty’s from 9.30pm with Rosie Connolly.

Saturday schedule

The Old Church plays host to an Indoor and Outdoor Market from 11am to 3pm on Saturday while there will be an Arts and Crafts Market with Space Mango at Abhainn Studio from 11am to 5pm.

Tanya’s Storytelling at the Library takes place from 11am to 12.30pm. The Piggy Family Fun Day takes place at the Ocean Sands Hotel Garden from 11am to 5pm with comedy magic shows, science events, puppet shows, face painting, storytelling and more.

A Standup Paddleboard (SUP) Competition takes place at the Pier from 2 to 6pm. Niamh McGrath’s interesting play ‘Gombean’, which sees warrior queen Grace O’Malley resurrected as a modern day horsebox coffee entrepreneur, takes place in the Old Church from 7 to 8pm.

The Lacken Energy Black Pig Live Gig takes place from 8pm with four exciting acts taking to the stage in the new church. The Easkey Punk Choir, Graham Sweeney, Clare Sands and Hi-Fi with Taby Callaghan are on the bill.

Sunday events

Sunday starts with a Sandcastles Competition at the Small Beach at 10am. A Wellness Day starts at 10am and runs until 4pm on Sunday with events such as Yoga on the Beach, Breathwork, Chair Yoga and more. Heritage Walks with Paddy Tuffy start at the New Church at 1pm. There will be a Fun Duck Race starting at the Lifeguard tower at 1pm.

There is plenty of music events throughout the evening. A Vinyl Fair takes place at Abhainn Studio from 3pm. The Rolling Tones play in the Square at 7pm. Mike Hanrahan and Brídín play the Waterfront from 10pm. A Teen Disco for 13-17-year-olds takes place in the Old Church from 8.30pm.

Monday brings the Festival to a close with a Pitch n Putt competition from 5pm and a 5km/10km Black Pig Fun Run from 7pm.
