Castleconnor Amateur Dramatic Society will present a night of one-act comedies on Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18, in the local community centre with curtains up at 8pm nightly. Admission is €10 available on the door each night.

Audiences are guaranteed a night of excellent entertainment with three one-act plays being staged. The three plays are Gate Thirteen by Tony Frier, The Act of Living by Robert Scott and a selection of fairytales… with a twist! Members of the drama group have been hard at work preparing these plays for the last number of weeks.

Gate Thirteen is a hilarious comedy that will be all too familiar to anyone who has had their flight delayed and met interesting characters at the departure gate. The cast tries their best to avoid the excess baggage charges, collect as many freebies as possible, and one-up one another with their holiday stories. Throughout, a mystery character is out of place in this hodge-podge of holiday makers and is desperately trying to avoid getting on the plane.

The Act of Living is a funny, moving story that follows the lives of two characters from their first meeting in childhood through to old-age. The audience will see the highs and lows of life as the characters navigate friendship, romance and parenthood. A comedy drama that is sure to bring laughs and tears in equal measure.

Castleconnor Youth Drama have taken on Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting Rhymes’ and bring us a taste of panto with a cast of fairytale characters. Prepare to meet Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf as you’ve never seen them before. Audiences will love these classic tales but don’t expect any ‘happily ever afters’ with these gruesome stories.

Frank Barrett, chairperson of Castleconnor Amateur Dramatic Society, is very enthusiastic about the upcoming shows.

"It has been great fun working on these plays over the last number of weeks," he said. "We’ve got three terrific casts who are going to bring these very funny plays to the Castleconnor stage. A lot of people have put in hours of work to get these plays ready and we can’t wait to welcome audiences to a brilliant evening’s entertainment in Castleconnor Community Centre."
