Belmullet boxer hopes to bring world title belt home to Mayo following upcoming fight
Belmullet boxer Rachel Lally
Mayo boxer and reigning Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) International Super Middleweight champion Rachel Lally will step into the ring in Dubai to fight for the UBO World Super Middleweight Title next week.
‘The Bullet from Belmullet’ (record 3-0-1, 1KO) takes on formidable opposition in Grace Mapesa from Tanzania (5-1, 4KOs) for the vacant title on Friday, April 3 in one of the featured bouts of BATL Boxing Promotions “Night of Champions” at The Pavilion Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.
The fight, along with five additional championship bouts, will be streamed live world-wide by one of the worlds largest boxing platforms IFL TV.
By many seen as a good bet to take over as the queen of Irish boxing once the legendary Katie Taylor reportedly retires soon, Lally won the UBO International title last November when she defeated undefeated Tanzanian Leila Yusuph Macho.
Mapesa will be looking to gain revenge for her compatriot. She turned pro in February of 2023 by beating unbeaten Hawa Newton Stanford.
Her sole defeat came at the hands of 2025 world amateur champion, and now undefeated pro, Elena Gapeshina in Russia, and she is looking to make her second trip abroad more successful and upset the favourite.
