Fondúireacht Seosamh Mac Donnncha/Joe McDonagh Foundation

Swinford Killasser LGFA is committed to promoting the Irish language and culture within the club through fun and entertaining initiatives. Earlier this year the club appointed Louise Doherty (Laoise Uí Dochartaigh) as Irish Language and Cultural Officer whose first job was to put a sub-committee in place to assist with this task. So far this year the club has celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge and has other activities planned. The club hopes to continue this throughout the year and beyond. To support the club in its endeavours the club has registered with Glór na nGael and hopes to be awarded with a bronze medal from Fondúireacht Seosamh Mac Donnncha for its efforts. The club has already met some of its targets and has lots of fun things planned going forward. The club has been awarded a grant from Glór na nGael to affix Irish language signage at the Swinford Amenity Park and club house which are expected to be put in place in the next month.

In the meantime, as part of the award requirements, the club has sent out a short survey to be completed by its members to gauge their interest and ability in the language as well as planned events. The club would like to urge all members to please complete the survey which has been circulated on WhatsApp to all parents of underage players, senior team members, coaches, managers etc as soon as possible. Buíochas libh roimh ré agus go raibh maith agaibh as bhur dtacaíocht leanúnach.
