Western Gaels Hurling team who are the U18 Davis League Champions after defeating Tourlestrane with a final scoreline of Western Gaels 2-14 Tourlestrane 0-12.

Yoga and Sound Bath Charity event

Go along and join in the charity Yoga and Sound Bath event which will be held on Thursday, July 10 from 7-9pm in support of The People of Gaza, at West Sligo Family Resource Centre, Enniscrone. The Black Pig Festival

The Black Pig Festival will take place in Enniscrone from July 24 to 28 with lots of music, art, comedy, theatre, fun fair, fireworks and lots more with something to suit everyone. It includes; Seamus and Caoimhe O’Flatharta, Patrick Stefan, Dotts O’Connor, Wi-fi, Am I Irish Yet by Kate Kerrigan, John Colleary Comedian, Totally Made Up Orchestra, Relish Records, Space Mango, Music on the Square, Fun Fair all weekend and fireworks. There will also be Taste of Enniscrone, Documentary screening, Bubble Football competition, Art exhibition and workshops, Black Pig dance, Family Fun Day, surfing, sand castle competition, We are Art Club, Ball Hill Race, Pitch and Putt competition, 5/10k Black Pig Run and a treasure hunt.

West Sligo 3 and 5km series

The very successful West Sligo 3 and 5km series concludes on Monday evening next, July 14, with a run in the beautiful seaside town of Enniscrone. There will be refreshments and prizegiving afterwards. The meeting point is the Running Trace (Eircode F26 V5T8).

The series kicked off in Easkey on June 30 and yesterday evening the runners ended their busy weekend with movement and ran around the beautiful countryside of Castleconnor. The runners soaked up the stunning scenery of West Sligo over the series and enjoyed spending some fun time with family. It was a celebration of fitness, community and summer evenings in Sligo. West Sligo AC extend thanks to their main sponsor, Anam Pharmacy, for supporting this fantastic community series.

Social Dancing

Social dancing is held every Friday night in July at the Old Church, Enniscrone with dancing from 9-11pm. Get the dancing shoes ready as the following will provide the music; on July 11, its noel Briody; Friday, July 18, Conor Duffy and Friday, July 25, Brendan McGee and Eugene Cunningham. Admission is €10 and there will be refreshments, door prizes, good company, great music and fantastic dancing.

Open Water Swimming

The Swim Ireland open water swimming programme for Enniscrone Pier is as follows; children July 7-11, July 14-18, July 28-August 1. To book https://app.joinin.online/... for more information email participation@swimireland.ie. The classes are 45 minutes and are for levels 1-4.

Blotto

The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, June 29, were 1, 34 and 35. The €25 winners were Dean Conway, Billy Varley, Margaret Haran and Patricia Freeman. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday night, July 6, in McNulty’s Bar, was €5,200.

Change of day for weekly lotto

Eoghan Rua LGFC combined with Easkey GAA have informed their loyal weekly and annual lotto supporters that their weekly lotto draw will take place on Sunday evenings going forward as opposed to Monday evenings. This decision was made by the combined lotto teams. This change is effective from last week, with the latest lotto draw having taken place on Sunday, July 6. The clubs extend thanks to all those who support their lotto draw.

The numbers drawn on June 30, were 10, 16, 20 and 40. There was no jackpot winner and the €30 consolation prizewinners were; Joe Rolston, Matt Leonard, Bryan Kerrigan, John Corcoran and Annette Bardy. The jackpot for the latest draw which was held on Sunday, July 6, was €20,900.

Enniscrone Kilglass GAA

The intermediate footballers played out a 0-14 apiece draw with Coolaney/Mullinabreena in the league held recently and next up for them was a meeting of Eastern Harps in Quigabar on Sunday afternoon last, July 6.

The Junior B side fell to a 4-12 to 1-19 defeat to St John’s which brought their league campaign to a close. The championship will begin later in the summer.

The minor team had their first championship match on Tuesday, July 1 away to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point and the game was played in Oxfield.

The U15’s were due to play Coolera/Strandhill in the first round of the league on Monday last.

The U13’s will commence their championship campaign on Friday, July 11, at home to Curry.

Activator Poles

The Activator Poles series continues on Tuesday mornings from 11.15am to 12.15pm at West Sligo Family Resource Centre, Enniscrone, and they will continue every Tuesday until July 15. Book now at 087 3329392 or 096 37444.

Cemetery Mass

The annual Cemetery Mass will be held on Friday, August 1, at 7pm in Roslea Cemetery; on Sunday, August 3, at 12.30pm at Churchill Cemetery, Dromore West; and on Sunday, August 3 at 6pm in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass.

Charity Duck Race

Fionn Weir has organised a fundraiser in aid of the wonderful Paediatrics Ward in Sligo University Hospital. The fundraiser will be in the form of a Duck Race in the Easkey River at 3pm on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 3, at 3pm. Ducks are available to buy in local shops.

Your support for Fionn will be appreciated as he is giving back to the amazing paediatric unit that took such great care of him. Your donation will help him show his gratitude and make a difference for other children. So quack you way to some family fun and join in for lots of thrills, spills and adorable quacks. There are lots of prizes to be won on the day.

Division 1 Shield semi-final

It was a quick tur around for the Eoghan Rua U16 girls team after their last group game was held on Monday evening, June 30. The girls were back in action on Wednesday, July 2, in Owenmore Gaels, where they were competing to book their spot in the Division 1 shield semi-final.

Aughris 5K fun run/walk

Help support Nicholas and Cara Leonard in getting their forever home by joining in the Aughris 5k fun run/walk, which is taking place on Saturday, July 12 at 12 noon, from The Beach Bar, Aughris. This will be followed by a family fun day and music all day. There will be food vans, ice-cream, face painting, barbeque and a raffle. 10% of the funds raised go to T.A.R.A. and a donation will be made to Dom’s Wish North West Hospice.

Summer Camps

Kilglass/Enniscrone Utd FC are delighted to work with the following providers to offer summer camps; FAI 5 day camp will take place from July 21 to 25; in conjunction with Celtic Foundation from August 5 to 8; and with Sligo Rovers from August 18 to 22. Enniscrone Mens Shed

The Enniscrone Mens Shed received a poly tunnel from Homeland Ballina and the men have been busy getting it up and ready for use. It looks great and it’s only the start of this adventure as there is plenty more work around the corner to turn this space into a functional garden for everyone to see and pop in. The Mens Shed extends thanks to Sligo County Council for the funding for this project. Anyone interested in joining the Mens Shed or the garden are asked to pop into the Shed on Monday to Thursday, from 10am to 2pm or to the West Sligo Family Resource Centre for further information.

The Enniscrone Indoor Market is open every Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Come along and meet some of the fabulous traders eg. EWAC Enniscrone, Brown Penny, Suantrai na Coille, Seoda na Ce and more.
